arris' parents were British entertainers, who were working at the England-themed amusement park in Lake Havasu City, Arizona when she was born. After Harris' birth they returned to England, before returning for good to the United States and settling in San Diego, California, where she and her two elder sisters grew up.[1] Harris was first exposed to the entertainment industry through her late father, Ray Harris, who was a singer and songwriter.[7]
Harris attended La Jolla High School and San Diego State University, majoring in psychology.[1] It was during this period that she started modeling, and came to the attention of the Playboy organization.
Harris met Hugh Hefner on Halloween 2008.[1] She was attending a party at the Playboy mansion, to which she had been invited by a friend.[8] She then appeared as "Co-Ed of the week" on Playboy.com magazine during the week of October 30, 2008, under the name Crystal Carter.[9] From late 2009, Harris has appeared in two seasons of E!'s The Girls Next Door reality show.
In April 2010, Harris signed a recording contract with Organica Music Group, a division of Universal Music Group, managed by record producer Michael Blakey.[10] Her debut single "Club Queen" was released on June 14, 2011.[11] She appeared in an episode of The Hills in season 2.[citation needed]
The couple were wed in front of a simple floral arch at the mansion. Another wedding photo showed the two with Hef's dog, Charlie, who wore a tuxedo for the occasion.
"The harpist and flutist did an amazing job last night," Harris said via Twitter. "They played 'As Time Goes By' 'Because You Loved Me' 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow' and 'Chasing Cars.' They continued to play through the night as guests arrived for the big annual NYE party."
Harris infamously broke their earlier engagement when she walked away five days before their planned wedding in June 2011, leaving her beau to slap a "runaway bride" label on the "Meet Mrs. Crystal Hefner" issue of Playboy that came out shortly after the non-event.
e pair started dating and were due to marry in June 2011, but Crystal called off the engagement when she got cold feet.
But this week she became one of the richest women in America as 86-year-old Hef's third wife in a lavish ceremony on New Year’s Eve.
But it could have all been so different if her parents hadn't swapped gloomy West Bromwich for sunkissed California.
Since the Harris family left, the pub fell into ruin. It shut four years ago.
But locals still remember them - and insist Crystal was destined for stardom, even as a kid.
